Dear Year 1 and Year 2 Parents and Carers,
Throughout next week, our Year 1 children and some of our Year 2 children will be doing their Phonics Screening Check. At some point during the week, they will read 20 real words and 20 'alien words' (made-up words) with their class teacher. This will help us to check how many sounds they have learnt when learning how to read.
Please could you encourage your child to go to bed as early as possible throughout the week and to give them a healthy breakfast before coming to school so they are ready to do their best on their Phonics Screening Check.
