Welcome to the Early Years Foundation Stage
At Harehills Primary School, our Early Years Foundation Stage provides a caring, stimulating, and inclusive environment where children feel safe, valued, and excited to learn.
We offer up to 78 nursery places, giving children the opportunity to make new friends and begin their learning journey through play and exploration. Starting pre-school is an important milestone, and to support a smooth and positive transition, a member of our Early Years team will visit you and your child at home before they start nursery to discuss routines, answer questions, and help your child feel confident and secure.
Our Reception provision offers 90 places, spread across three classes. Each year, we carefully stagger our intake to ensure that every child makes the best possible start to school life. This gradual approach helps children to settle happily and become familiar with the day-to-day routines of school.
All children in Reception are entitled to a free school meal as part of the government’s Universal Free School Meals scheme. Children eat together in the Studio, with staff on hand to support them and ensure lunchtime is a calm, happy, and enjoyable experience.
