The language for this half term is Punjabi.
Punjabi is spoken by about 70 million people worldwide. 26 million Punjabi speakers live in Northern India and in neighbouring Pakistan there are approx. 40 million Punjabi speakers. Indian Punjabi and Pakistani Punjabi have different dialects and scripts. Around 53 of our children speak Indian Punjabi and 40 speak Pakistani Punjabi.
At Harehills Primary School we are very proud of the cultural and lingual diversity that our children have. Being bi-lingual or multi-lingual is a valuable skill and will provide our children with a wide range of opportunities in adult life. There is a World Language display outside the office to celebrate the current Language of the Half Term.
