Look what you can achieve if you collaborate
We always focus on the power of collaboration during the first half term of the school year. This year I shared an example of how different people in school have collaborated on a project and what a success this was.
The aim was to create a virtual tour of our school which shows what a happy, welcoming place it is and the result was fantastic. In...
Back to school and ready to learn
A very warm welcome back everyone. We had such a happy start to the new academic year. It is wonderful on the first day back to walk around and see children arriving with their families looking smart in our Harehills blue uniform, eager and ready to learn.
Every classroom and area looks bright, exciting and welcoming. Our staff team really does go that extra...
The world we want to make
The end of term is always very emotional particularly for the Year 6 children who are leaving us to go to high school. Their leavers performance, "Robin and the Harehills Hoodies" was fantastic . 🙌 Every child had been given the opportunity to showcase their personality and their talents. We laughed, we cried and we clapped with appreciation. If the job of a...
Ready for the next step
It was wonderful on transition day last week to visit classrooms and see happy, smiling faces. Every class spent a day with their new teacher in their new classroom and had a taster of what it will be like in their new year group, as well as meeting the staff who will be working with them. I couldn't help but notice how ready for this next step they all are.
Reduce, reuse, recycle â™»ï¸ðŸ‘
Last week was Science week and it culminated in a Science Fair. All week our children had been engaged in projects which highlighted how we can reuse a whole range of household items in a fun way. During the week all classes had looked at what we can recycle and reduce both at school and at home. The children had been totally inspired and were...
Injecting creativity into learning is a definite way of ensuring you have happy, inspired and engaged learners. I have seen examples of this in abundance last week right across school.
Year 1 children gave us a fascinating snapshot into learning in year 1 when they performed their year group assembly. The Year 1 teachers have cleverly woven knowledge, skills and...
The subject for Darfield 3's assembly was Refugee week and it was full of poignant messages. The children acted out a story of a family having to flee from their home because of war. I think we all felt very emotional as they showed us the impact it had on the family's lives. They had chosen to sing the song Refuge to end their assembly and it couldn't have been more perfect....
Our amazing children ðŸ˜ðŸ‘ðŸ‘
I am often asked what are our priorities for the children in our school and always reply that we ant to create happy, confident individuals who are equipped with the knowledge, skills and understanding to operate in today's world. This week our children have shone in so many different ways because they have the necessary things in...
Celebrating special times
One of the things that makes Harehills Primary School such a rich. diverse and colourful place to be is sharing different cultural, religious and special occasions. Understanding the traditions that are important to others helps develop respect and tolerance which is so important in creating active citizens in our community. Last week many of our children and their...
Let's get physical
Our staff were finally trained to use the gym equipment that we have had installed in TheGym@Harehills and on a gloriously sunny day children got to try it out for the first time. It is without doubt a fantastic facility which so many children in Year 3,4 ,5 and 6 will enjoy using.
I was delighted to be sent some pictures of children using the equipment with such...
