Advent - Hope, peace, joy and love and a missing chocolate

It's beginning to look a lot like another very festive Christmas time in school

What a wonderful week sprinkled with a little bit of magic that HPS does so well. We began the week with Family Assemblies to officially launch Christmas at Harehills Primary by decorating the Christmas tree and switching on the lights. I talked about Advent and its importance for Christian people. We lit the first candle in our advent wreath which signifies hope and took time to reflect on the other four candles and how important peace, joy, love and light are in our world.

And who would have thought that Miss Melling would follow in Mrs Lee and Mr Matthew's footsteps and steal chocolates from my advent calendar. There seems to be something about elf jumpers.???? I think the continuing case of the stolen advent calendar chocolates will be remembered for a long time. Goodness knows what might happen next year.

As the children left the assembly listening to Michael Bublé singing 'It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas' you could sense a feeling of happiness and excitement for what is to come over the next few weeks.
