Musician of the moment
As we entered the hall on Tuesday ready to watch the Year 1 snapshot of learning assembly, 'Rocket Man' by Elton John was playing. There couldn't have been a more apt choice because the assembly showcased Year 1 children's learning through the theme 'A journey to..' which includes a rocket ship landing in their playground and three alien eggs being left for them to care for.
Over the past few weeks, I have heard a range of Elton John's famous songs being played right across school. because he has been our Musician of the Moment. This is a new initiative brought in by our Music team and the whole school has really embraced it.
And now we have reached the end of the first half term of the Summer term. So, in the words of one of Elton's hits our staff team should feel very proud of being able to say, 'I'm still standing' after such a busy time.
When I took time to reflect on the last 6 weeks, it is amazing how much we have achieved. It is a half term which has had everything, from KS1 & KS2 SATs to trips to Yorkshire Wildlife park, Temple Newsam and Elland Road Stadium, Year 5 Sleepover, and a wonderful Coronation celebration day.
I cannot thank the staff team enough for offering the children they work with so many exciting experiences which ensure they are engaged and enthused in their learning. I know just how much time, creativity and effort goes into doing this.
I am excited to see what the second half of this term brings.
