A happy start to a new term
The sun has smiled on us a lot this week and it certainly makes it feel more like the start of the summer term (albeit cold at times!). We have had a productive first week back.
I was delighted to officially open the new Year 3 outdoor area on Monday. This has been lovingly created by the inspirational This Green Moon team. I know the children will get so much out of this space and the endless opportunities it offers.
On Wednesday we set our 2023-2024 school budget and I have a special shout out for Mrs Smith and Mrs Willshaw for all they do to make sure our school finances work so smoothly. Our Finance Officer was so complimentary about how efficiently our budget is run. The result is a healthy surplus which will see us through any unforeseen costs for energy, pay or maintenance and allow us to commit to some things on our Wishlist.
During the week we got to hear that both our Year 5 Debating Teams have made it through to the Leeds Debating competition final which will be held in Leeds Civic Hall on the 29th June. Both teams are delighted and will be working very hard on getting their arguments ready to fight to be the 2023 champions.
Friday was a quiet day in school with it being given as religious observance time for our Muslim staff and children. Having fasted for the month of Ramadan I know they were all very excited to be able to celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr with their families and friends. I am sure everyone will have had a wonderful time and I am looking forward to seeing the children in their Eid clothes for our Eid party day in school.
