Giving to others

School was awash with pink on 'Wear It Pink' day last Friday as we raised money for the Breast cancer awareness charity at the end of another week filled with so much to feel pleased about. Our staff team always embrace all fundraising events with great enthusiasm as do the children. I have seen so many creative ideas for wearing the focus colours - yellow post-its, yellow paper cup hats, pink tutus, coloured bows, hairbands and bracelets Fund raising this half term has included:

  • A staff Coffee morning with green aprons and decorations for Macmillan Cancer care,
  • Wearing yellow for 'hellowyellow' on World Mental Health Day and collecting for the Young Minds charity.
  • Collecting Harvest gifts for local foodbanks.

Luxor 2's engaging Harvest assembly last Tuesday included information about Harvest festival celebrations in churches and World Food day. There were reminders of what we can do to make a difference in the fight to stop world hunger and this included donations to foodbanks. The response from children's families was fantastic. it was certainly heart warming when children came into assembly carrying their gifts of food. This has been gratefully received by Leeds Community Fridge Food Bank. (see letter from them on our News page).

Giving back with such generosity is something our whole school community always does so well.
