Thinking about others and making a difference

We are committed to raising money for charity and invest time in talking to our children about how we can make a difference to those less fortunate than ourselves.

Red Nose Day 2023

Red Nose Day was on Friday 17th March and this year it was all about coming together, spreading joy and having the best day ever, whatever that means for you.

We wanted to ‘raise some smiles’ right across HPS and so children and staff wore clothes that make them smile/laugh. There were certainly lots of smiles with staff across Year 5 and 6 dressing in tutus and wearing pink cowboy hats! Apparently as Mrs Mann, Year group leader for Year 6 said, staff had raided the Upper Key Stage 2 dressing up box.

Right across school staff had planned an afternoon of fun activities making the most of resources created for schools by the Comic Relief team. Staff had a go on the Red Nose Day sweepstake by guessing the dance move that Ellie Taylor will chose.

We asked children and staff to bring in £1 donation for the Comic relief fund to help people in the UK and around the world live free from poverty, violence, discrimination. This includes supporting people right now in Ukraine and those fleeing the country. I know we will raise a total that will make a difference.

GREAT NEWS!! Thanks to your incredible generosity we raised £442.58 for Martin House Children’s Hospice on World Book Day.

It never ceases to amaze me how generous our school community is when we do any fundraising throughout the year.

Thank you
