'Choose respect' and 'Do your thing'

This year's slogan for Anti-Bullying week is 'choose respect' and that was the theme for the Year 6 children in Sandhurst 1 who presented an assembly full of dramatic and powerful moments. Children in the audience were left with no doubt as to where they could find help if they were experiencing bullying or worried about someone being bullied.
The day before our whole school had shown respect for those who lost their lives during war by joining in hands in Remembrance class circles and observing a 2 minute silence. It is always a very special and poignant moment to see more than 800 people young and old stand and acknowledge the ultimate sacrifice others made in order for us to live in peace.

Thursday night we held our annual Year 6 dinner which saw the hall packed with staff, Year 6 children and their families. The evening formalises all the key elements that will happen for the children as they journey through this extra special year. It was fantastic to see the support the children have from our staff team and their families and I am sure they feel inspired, excited and ready to face the challenges ahead.

The week ended on a really high note with everyone in school 'doing their thing' for this year's Children in Need Appeal by dressing up in something that made them feel happy.

Everything this week has been done with true Harehills Primary flair and style and we have certainly shown that we know how to 'do our thing' to an incredibly high standard. 😊
