Looking after your mental health

Schools are very busy places and the last few weeks have been very hectic, with a range of trips, assemblies, visits taking place. This is the time when you really get to see what a great staff team we have and how good they are at spinning all the plates' and making sure the children have the best experiences every day. I know that this can sometimes take its toll on people's mental health and me and my SLT are always checking on workload and wellbeing for all of our staff.

The timing for Sandhurst 2's assembly with a focus on supporting you to look after your mental health couldn't have been better. It was on Tuesday 10th October which was World Mental Health day and helloyellow day so children and staff had worn yellow clothes or yellow accessories and collected money for the Young Minds charity. The children from Sandhurst 2 told the story of filling your bucket with positives and gave lots of lovely ideas for how to do this. They also spoke about 'bucket dippers' - those that want to take away your positives and replace them with negatives. This was followed by advice of how to keep the 'bucket dippers' away.

After that they did a short demonstration of Mindfulness and Mini Yoga as well as showing clips of children and staff talking about what they do to help/support others who might not be feeling happy.

It was a very uplifting assembly and we all left the hall with smiles on our faces and equipped with wonderful ideas to help us when we might feel upset, worried, anxious. ????
