Safe as Houses 2023
Last week saw the launch of the 2023 Safe as Houses project. The project is such an important focus for us and thank you, Miss Melling and Mrs Haywood, for always coming up with a new perspective on helping us to think about how we can keep ourselves and others safe. The idea of using the traditional tale, Hansel and Gretel to explore choices and a version with a spin on this much-loved tale to enable children to share their thoughts is great. We love your creativity.
I am especially looking forward to seeing children's designs for a new Safe as Houses poster and can't wait until we film a new version of the Safe as Houses song later in the year. Every time I watch the finished video of the song that was created by the children working with Class Dynamix, I think how it captures perfectly the understanding and commitment to keeping one another safe that exists right across our whole school community.
Next week we have a visit from the local authority team to re-assess all that we do for Healthy Schools and Safe as Houses is just one example of the many things we do as part of being a Leeds Healthy School. Children and staff are very excited to be able to share our work in:
- PSHE
- SEMH
- PE and Physical activity
- Healthy Eating and Food in the Curriculum
- School council
- Pastoral care and Safeguarding.
Another opportunity for us to showcase the wonderful work that goes on in school every day. ????
