We will remember
I am finding it hard to choose a highlight from last week, but the main focus was on remembrance.
Sandhurst 2 class assembly all about Remembrance day was wonderful and it was great to see so many parents come to watch. On Friday, the Remembrance Day class circles poignant 2 minutes silence gave me goosebumps, especially when the sun came out briefly from behind the clouds. To have over 700 children stand in silence in their circles showing respect for those who have lost their lives is a very moving experience. This is particularly relevant at a time when war continues to ravage the country of Ukraine with many lives being lost.
During the day, Year 5 and Year 6 children visited the local war memorial taking with them flowers and messages written on poppies to leave behind. A very emotional time for all involved and a reminder of how important it is that schools take time to remember the fallen. Also last week, announcing this year's Head boy and girl and their deputies was a special moment for me. Hearing what staff have to say about these children and the wonderful attributes they possess is a moment to feel proud. Check out our home page to find out who this year's V.I.P.s are 🙂
In this busy world we work in it is important that we find just a few minutes to celebrate all the wonderful things that happen here in school.
