Adding a bit of sparkle and joy

On my advent calendar it says, "Bring your best self to work today. Be your own Sparkle" and during a difficult week with high staff and child absence I have seen so many people 'sparkling'. It is wonderful to have a strong, staff team who are able to add that bit of magic even when it's tough.

I came into school on Friday morning to find very excited children visiting a Christmas grotto which had been set up by our Rise and Shine staff team. It was made even more festive by the staff who has dressed up as Mother Claus, a Christmas elf and a fully lit Christmas tree. Every child was given a gift which had been donated by Jenny Jones and the team at Leeds Children's Charity and they were thrilled.

Meanwhile rehearsals have been in full swing for this year's Christmas performance of 'Hey Ewe'. I love to hear the younger children from Reception, Year 1 and 2 practising - the solo performers are so confident.

Christmas in a primary school is a very special time of year and always produces moments that are totally wonderful, and it is fantastic that you continue to find ways to make school feel very festive and full of fun.
