Roma Inclusion through Culture and Education
Harehills is delighted to be involved with the RICE project. The project involves linking schools and Roma communities in Leeds with schools and Roma communities in Brno, Czech Republic.
Both partner cities have a sizeable Roma population (as well as Gypsies and Travellers in Leeds). It is estimated that there are in excess of 5,000 Gypsies, Roma and Travellers in Leeds and over 15,000 Roma in Brno. These communities experience social exclusion and multiple disadvantages, including in the areas of education, employment, health and housing.
