We've received the Healthy Schools Award again
Harehills Primary have been re-accredited with the Healthy School award!
On Thursday 7th December 2017 Harehills Primary were visited by Helen Smithies, the Healthy Schools assessor. During the day Helen met with pupils, staff, parents and governors to find out about the many ways in which Harehills Primary Invests in the health and wellbeing of its pupils.
Here are a few quotes from our report from Helen:
"The school’s caring ethos and warmth are felt the moment you enter. The school is very much about everyone and is very pupil-focused and inclusive. The learning environment promotes healthy living and wellbeing, evident through the varied PHSE, physical and emotional health messages and displays that are visible throughout the school."
"Pupil voice in this school is strong with various roles available for the children, for example MindMate Ambassadors, School Councillors, Schools Food Ambassadors and Playground Friends."
"The PE Coordinator uses pupil voice well to inform the curriculum and extra-curricular provision. The pupils valued the opportunity to be involved in the decision making and could describe activities which have been introduced as a result of this."
"Everyone feels safe, cares for each other and is very friendly. Staff have fostered a fantastic team ethos, are very supportive of each other, friendly, happy, approachable and know their pupils and families very well, which ensures everyone feels safe and valued. The sense of inclusion is strong and parents and pupils report feeling very supported."
"There is excellent in-house pastoral care provision to support emotional health through targeted individual and group interventions. There are many excellent support mechanisms in place which the children are aware, for example the MindMate Ambassadors, worry boxes in each classroom and Playground Friends."
During the day Helen interviewed a range of pupils, parents, governors and staff, here are some of the quotes from her interviews:
