Championing healthy minds
A healthy mind is vital to a happy and successful life and that is one of the many reasons why Harehills Primary is working towards becoming a MindMate Champion setting
A MindMate Champion setting provides mental health awareness and support at an exemplary level. It supports the prevention of social, emotional and mental health issues, gets the correct support from outside agencies and will have successfully championed an evidence-based intervention on a particular topic.
We are very lucky to have our Assistant Headteacher Mrs McMullen working with MindMate to plan lessons to deliver in schools. Last Wednesday she delivered a sample lesson to 15 of our Year 5 children at leeds Civic Hall. The audience were incredibly complimentary and 3 of the children and Mrs McMullen were interviewed by Radio Aire. I am very proud of all who took part and allowed other professionals a glimpse into the high quality PSHE provision we deliver in school and the positive impact it has on our children
We will all ensure that MindMate, which is part of the Future in Mind:Leeds Strategy, will be given a high profile in our school.
