Earth Day 🌍
It was a very happy start to the Summer term and the whole school embraced Earth Day on Friday. School Councillors had visited assemblies before the Easter holidays to share their vision for the day. This included us coming to school dressed in 'earth' colours which they decided are green, blue, white, and brown.
All classes spent time sharing a presentation approved by school council which highlighted ways that we can make a difference to the environment we live in. Classes were asked to explore the eco-friendly activities and hopefully the choices they made will have make a difference to our printing and electricity bills!
Climate-themed books have been delivered to all classes for everyone to enjoy. I spotted "Dinosaurs and all that rubbish' which is one of my all time favourite books. I am sure that all the various small changes that were made on Friday will have made children and staff think twice before switching on light, throwing things away and sending things to the printer 😉
All children are being given the opportunity to demonstrate their greenness with 'caught you being green' cards to be handed out from Friday. They will be collected this week ready for draws in assemblies on Friday 29th April when the lucky winners will be given a prize.
Well done School Council for inspiring us to engage in Earth day and making us take time to think about how we can make a difference to the world we live in 👏😁
