Learning how to care for things; knowing when you are being cared for
Bexley 3 children gave us a fascinating peek into the creative learning that happens in their classroom everyday when they performed their assembly last Monday. Showing very confident speaking and acting ability, they shared with the audience lots of facts about how to care for trees. Then they told the story of 'Stickman' using Talk4Writing and gave a powerful message of how, sometimes we need to be cared for.
The theme in Year 1 this term is, "How does your garden grow?", and their assembly was a fantastic example of how engaging learning through theme can be. The clever interweaving of so many subjects clearly maximises the knowledge, skills and understanding that can take place.
The assembly finished with an action song and we were all amazed by how all the children knew both the lyrics and the actions.
All year groups left the Hall taking away the clear message of how important it is to care for everybody and everything but also to remember that sometimes we need to recognise that we are being cared for.
