Safe as houses: the power to speak up 👍
"The power of one who stands with courage" are the final lyrics of our school 'Safe as houses' song. Every year in January Miss Melling and Mrs Haywood launch our "Safe as houses" project which aims at reminding our children of how they can keep themselves safe, as well as helping to keep others safe. They always manage to find a creative way to involve our children and make sure important messages are understood.
This year every class will be exploring the story of a little mouse who found himself in a very unsafe situation but found the strength to speak up. In assembly last week all classes were given a little mouse and tasked with making the mouse feel safe and showing him/her how to be safe. This has definitely engaged the whole school community and I cannot wait to see what everyone will share about how what they have done for their little mouse in our assemblies in a few week's time. The Leadership team also have a mouse to care for and he already has a name, a home and is feeling very safe 😊
Helping little mouse to understand how he can keep himself safe is another wonderful way of showing how Harehills Primary is committed to keeping everyone safe and helping our whole school community recognise they have a responsibility for doing so.
