Sandhurst 1 - Week Nine!
Hi there Sandhurst 1! Miss Shaw here, not reporting from home this time, but from my desk in our classroom! The classroom definitely looks different to how it did when we were all last here; it’s a little strange to be honest! The year six team have put together a brand new pack of home-learning to be delivered to you this week. I know many of you are still working through your other packs and that’s absolutely fine! Little bits each day is what we’re asking you to do. Say it with me… If you don’t use it, you lose it!
I really, REALLY enjoyed speaking to many of you on the phone last week! It makes me happy hearing your voices and finding out what you’ve all been up to. I’m so pleased to hear that you’ve been keeping yourselves busy with your learning and acquiring brand new skills along the way. I hope you’re enjoying the work that we’ve been sending home. We’ve tried to give you a sneak peek into what we would be learning at school; The Mayan theme is super interesting, isn’t it! Have you tried your hand at the marble run yet? If you have, we’d love to see a photo of it or of any learning you’ve been doing at home! See if someone can upload a photo to our email: email@example.com
I know that many of you are fasting at the moment. How are you finding it? Your normal routine might be a little different but keep going with your work when you can! I’ve also been expanding my brain during lockdown by doing lots of quizzes with friends and family. I feel like my bank of random general knowledge is getting pretty full now! Here are a couple of questions that tested my brain. Can you answer them? You can email the answers if you like.
What is the collective noun for a group of moles?
Who invented the lightbulb?
How many adult teeth does the average human have?
Sometimes I forget what week we’re on but I do know that we would have been done and dusted with our SATs last week and on the home-stretch now. We’d be focussing on refining our writing skills so please have a go at the writing tasks we have sent home. Try and push yourselves to include a range of punctuation and techniques that we have learnt. We’d also be looking at our year 6 performance! We were all looking forward to this but why not have a go some singing, dancing, or acting at home? I’m sure your families would love a personal theatre experience!
I have been keeping busy with yet another workout challenge, walking the pooch and painting the fence, which is a job I DEFINITELY have not enjoyed! Pawl has been loving the sunny walks he’s been getting and we have now made friends with 7 other sausage dogs that live on our estate! Here he is with a few of the other sausages!
I know it’s been a long time and things are a bit confusing at the moment but we’re working hard to try and find a way to solve things and keep everybody safe. Please email or use the website to contact me or any other member of staff if you have any questions or just fancy a quick chat!
I would like to say Eid Mubarak to all of you that are celebrating Eid-al-Fitr during half term. Your celebrations will look a little different this year but I’m sure you’ll still have the best time! Make sure you all give yourself a break next week and enjoy the sunny bank holiday coming up. I miss you all! Remember to stay safe and speak soon! Miss Shaw x
